Valve
2014
Sound Sculpture
Contemporary Art Space Chester
This implicit sound sculpture, 'Valve', conveys a powerful sense of embodiment. Subtle recordings of a mechanical heart valve—taken from the artist's father—invite the listener to see the quiet, often unnoticed sounds hidden within reassembled found objects. These discreet, rhythmic pulses gently draw attention to the intimate relationship between sound, body, and material.
This piece was features in Woolley's MA Fine Art show alongside 'Flight' and 'The Engine'.
