Spiders legs, plug and sink
Wunderland, Tactile Bosch Gallery, Cardiff
In Untitled, Estelle Woolley reanimates the overlooked through a deceptively modest gesture. A dirty, abandoned sink becomes the stage for a fragile chain delicately crafted from spiders’ legs, attached to the plug as though waiting to drain. The work’s near-invisibility demands slow looking; its quiet presence evokes unease, attraction, and the uncanny intimacy between the human and the nonhuman. Woolley’s sculpture unsettles familiar boundaries of the domestic, the bodily, and the natural, inviting feelings of revulsion, fear and wonder.
