Duck egg shells

Open Market, UnDegun, Wrexham

The column of duck egg shells, Precipice, was initially conceived for an exhibition in Wrexham called Open Market, where participating artists were asked to make something by using materials bought in the Wrexham markets, under the price of £20. The fragility of the shells create a tension, and a kind of purity and beauty that can’t be mimicked by man made reproduction. This piece really caught my interest when I was de-installing it, with the unusual sound it made. The egg shells were clanging against the thread that held them together, making what I thought was an intriguing sound and formed the basis of an experimental sound sculpture.
